Hello! I know, I haven't blogged for AGES, but I've been away, hanging out with father and his girlfriend and my mom has been taking me out so I've been pretty busy. Not to mention school stuff next week (ugh).
In honor of zombie week, I decided to read The Forest of Hands and Teeth, since it looked awesome.
The Forest of Hands and Teeth is about Mary, a girl who lives in post apocalyptic North America, where zombies aka the Unconsecrated are everywhere. Mary dreams of the ocean, a massive body of water untouched by the Unconsecrated. In Mary's village, the Unconsecrated press on all sides, the villagers only protected by a fence and a religious group called the Sisterhood. Then Mary starts to learn secrets about the Sisterhood no one else knows. Will Mary chose her reality, her love, or her dream?
I adored this book. It had everything I need in a book: awesome writing, a strong main character, tragedy, romance and ZOMBIES, which is the most important part. Ultimately, this book was about Mary's dream of the ocean and if she would go and find it or be content with where she was. The book was very creepy and the zombie parts were fantastic but not overdone. The inner struggle with Mary between the part of her that wanted to be loved and the other part that wanted adventure was really thrilling. I will be looking out for Carrie Ryan, because this book makes me want to read anything else she might write.
I won't be doing a Friday Finds post this week since I didn't find any new books! Expect more zombie posts!
