TBR Tuesday was started by my lovely friend Korianne.
Such a Pretty Girl by Laura Weiss
"They promised Meredith nine years of safety, but only gave her three.
Her father was supposed to be locked up until Meredith turned eighteen. She thought she had time to grow up, get out, and start a new life. But Meredith is only fifteen, and today her father is coming home from prison.
Today her time has run out. "
Basically, Such a Pretty Girl is about Meredith, whose father molested her and then went to jail. Except he got out early and her mother is welcoming him back.
I first heard of this one when my mom mentioned how much she enjoyed this one. She's one of the people whose taste I trust very much, so I want to give this one a try. It looks really good and I love the over.
Cracked Up to Be by Courtney Summers
"What's the worst thing you've ever done?
When "Perfect" Parker Fadley starts drinking at school and failing her classes, all of St. Peter's High goes on alert. How has the cheerleading captain, girlfriend of the most popular guy in school, consummate teacher's pet, and future valedictorian fallen so far from grace?
Parker doesn't want to talk about it. She'd just like to be left alone, to disappear, to be ignored. But her parents have placed her on suicide watch and her counselors are demanding the truth. Worse, there's a nice guy falling in love with her and he's making her feel things again when she'd really rather not be feeling anything at all.
Nobody would have guessed she'd turn out like this. But nobody knows the truth. Something horrible has happened, and it just might be her fault."
I heard of this one last year and it looks really good. I picked it up from the library and hope to read it soon.
Now, for the teaser!
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
" 'Are you psychoanalyzing me?'
I wrap the belt around my finger even tighter.
'Look at you,' she says. 'You're in a severe state of Tommy positiveness. You're Tommified. You're a Knutsonian."

Lame teaser, I apologize.
