July 10, 09 Cycler by Lauren McLaughlin

I haven't done a review in a while, I know. But now is the time! A while ago I read Cycler.

Cycler is about Jill, a girl who physically changes into a boy, Jack, for four days every month. (Do not be fooled like I was, this is not about a transgender girl, she seriously morphs into a guy.) Jill has other problems though. Like winning over her crush and going to prom. But Jack starts getting stronger and is fed up with being stuck in a bedroom for his entire existence. What will happens, no one knows.

Cycler was pretty good. I really enjoyed the writing and I thought it was clever at times. My only real complaint is that Jill and Jack were typical gender sterotypes. Jack was sex obsessed and Jill's first priority was boys and prom. Despite this, I didn't get bored of them. I really loved Jill's best friend, Ramie and after Jack started to grow beyond his porn, he grew on me too. This was a really fun read, and I'm looking forward to the sequel.

Emma Out!

I like your review of this book...everything I've heard previously was negative, so it was refreshing to read something good about it!

  2. Oh Ellie I'm thrilled you enjoy my blog!

I have mixed feelings about it...but it was really fun!
