June 25, 09 Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler

Twenty Boy Summer is about Anna, a girl who is in love with her best friend, Frankie's brother, Matt. When Matt kisses her at her fifteenth birthday party, things change, and Matt promises to tell Frankie when they go on their typical annual summer vacation to Zanzibar Bay in California. But when he dies of heart issues, Anna feels she has no choice but to keep his secret. More then a year after the tragedy, Frankie invites Anna to come join her parents and her to Zanzibar Bay. Frankie tries to help Anna lose her virginity and proposes they try to meet twenty boys after the summer. But Anna's heart is still Matt's, and Frankie doesn't know.

This book was amazing. Wow. The writing was the best part of the book and was utterly magnificent. I understood what people go through when a loved one dies a bit better. Anna was a loveable character (although she's really a Sophie FYI) and I learned to love Frankie too. The cover is also gorgeous. The writing was just to die for. It's very rare that I find an author whose words are like dark chocolate. This is Ockler's debut novel and I'm looking forward to seeing more of her.
